Saige Zink, Coroner IDs Woman Who Drowned After Crash into Susquehanna River

The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office has identified the young woman who tragically drowned after a two-vehicle crash sent both cars into the Susquehanna River early Thursday morning.

The fatal incident occurred around 2:25 a.m. in Washington Boro near Water Street and Charlestown Road. Responding officers discovered a white BMW SUV and a blue Chrysler sedan submerged in approximately five feet of water. According to the Manor Township Police Chief, preliminary investigation suggests the vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Charlestown Road prior to the crash.

After both cars were recovered from the river, a 20-year-old woman was extracted from one of the submerged vehicles. The coroner’s office has identified her as Saige Zink of Columbia Borough. An autopsy performed Friday confirmed her cause of death as freshwater drowning, and her death has been officially ruled an accident.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and it is currently unclear if any other individuals were injured.
